dear diary,

23/08/009 Patricia here... Fuck! Where does the time go its been forever since one of us wrote in the book. Around two years, but let me assure you we haven't been fucking the dog over those two years, just not writing about what we have been doing. The gallery and video sections are the proof of our continued trips to the stages.
Some of the best news as most of you know we have Lorne back so we have the original lineup hitting the stage again. Welcome back Lorne, we love you and what you do to Crackpuppy! Johnny is right in there kicking our asses and taking everything we do to a higher, harder, louder level.
Drew is singing at his peak, there are times when he's singing that we all look around at each other and say where did that come from, it's just so right on!
Take a look at some of the videos in the video section, and we have four or five videos from the Horseshoe Tavern show from May /09 up on Youtube (just type in "Crackpuppy"). As usual there are the photos (usually taken by Helene Ducharme thanks Helene you're the best) but there will be other folks photos going up....glad they are there showing their love by shooting video and pictures. By the way the videos we have now are by David Grenier, a dear friend and talented visual artist. David did a wonderful job shooting and spending a lot of energy and time editing. David thank you so much.

We couldn't do our stuff without our go to guy behind the scenes Tom Patterson. He does everything for us and works his ass off to make sure we sound great and get to where we are suppose to be.Lately we have Mark Crossley working with us as well and he gives us the added support we need. Then there is the Crackpuppy sound...like a roar of a jet 120 to 129 decibells off the stage ....how do you get that unwieldy roar to work? Kip Gillies (sound guy to the stars and house sound guy for the
Horseshoe Tavern) Kip has been doing sound for some of our shows and he is a fucking miracle worker. So thanks to Tom, Mark, and Kip for helping to make Crackpuppy sound so great.

A note, we are looking for new management too, so if you know someone or are someone that is able to do that, email us here thanks.

Great news, fucking about time, we hit Apmar Studios on Sept 8 to start laying down basic stuff for the new CD called Jesus Mafia. We are really excited to be recording a full length Cd with Alan Poaps and Shawn Daudlin at Apmar. It will be a blast. Great songs, agreat band and a great studio makes for a fucking killer CD.
Also we have a few shows tbc coming up, the Hideout and the Horseshoe in the next couple of months. So that's the fucking catch up diary entry. Will work on doing better at it, keeping you all in the eye of the hurricane that is Crackpuppy! It's Sunday, feeling like its time to go sit outside with a Jack and soda and ponder the warped world we live in. Thanks for your support since 2003 its been fun, weird, and really fucking loud!

08/19/07 Drewpuppy here... Interesting and nerve-wracking an long day... Crackpuppy was invited to play in Metal Queen Management's all-day Metalfest at the Phoenix Concert Theatre (beginning at noon). Of course we were excited and had even worked up some new tunes. (Plus our great friends at Long & McQuade were the major sponsor and we'd do anything for them). Plus we had a lot of friends on the bill so would be fun to play the same stage and see them play. Unfortunately there was one small problem...
Johnny Rude, our hard-hitting drummer, also runs Rok Boutique and was the host of the pre-party the night before. There was no way he could be in both places almost at once and do his usual impeccable job. Rather than cancel MQM asked us to open the show with an acoustic "Metal Breakfast." It's a very vulnerable feeling to be up there without the wall of sound that Crackpuppy creates as a support system... But the songs hold up and everyone seemed pleased. And we got a chance to work with Jimmy Palmer (one of our favourite soundmen) and fill a big room with a different version of the Crackpuppy magic.

08/09/07 Drewpuppy here... We're gearing up for the big metal fest on the 19th of August (details at news page) and as part of it we performed acoustically, and were interviewed, on "Tats n' Ass" on BlogTV hosted by UncleD. I'm attempting to get a download to post but in the meantime you can check it out at http://www.blogtv.ca:80/Shows/25488/ZmVFY2PrZe3DZ2P&pos=ancr or by clicking on the picture. The acoustic gigs are fun but a little quiet for the Crackpuppy style. Be sure to join us at the metal fest for the full experience. (We have discounted tickets as well so feel free to email). Lots of great bands will be there including our friends Revolver, Crash Kelly, The Mudmen and Sin Dealer.

07/10/07 Drewpuppy here... Has been a tragically long time since we've made a diary entry (in fact this is the first one this year!) so here goes... We've been busy (check out the galleries for pics of the last few shows) writing and rehearsing as much as we can. The CD is ready to go (except for the financing) and the new songs are testing well live (Jesus Mafia seems to be the new fave of many - and it is one of ours as the riff really rocks and Johnny gets to pound). We'll keep you posted as we progress...

Lots of upcoming shows for the summer. FFN5 is up first on Sun. July 22 in Allan Gardens (see news page for details as we receive them). It's one of our favourite events of the year as everyone gets to let their fetishes and kinks hange out. They're also the most fun, friendly group of people you'll ever meet. We're on with some other great bands that we've always wanted to play with so it should be a hot, boozy afternoon in the sun.

Sun. Aug. 19 we're part of the MQMusicfest - a daylong celebration of metal and hard rock. We have tickets if you want to save by getting them in advance. We've also been busy on our individual projects and lives. These pics are from Patricia's birthday party (it was packed and a blast of course) held at Johnny's new club (which you really should check out as it's always a good time) Rok Boutique, 200 Bathurst St.

11/18/06 Patricia here. hey everybody how is it going? We are busy as hell and stopped preproduction for the cd for a while
to write a few new songs. This time we are all hacking out the tunes together and i can tell you its sounding pretty fucking amazing. We have one confirmed 07 show in January on Tues. Jan.2 at the Horseshoe Tavern here in Toronto at 11pm. We are doing it for all those folks who don't get to party from the Thursday to the Sunday on New Year's Eve because they are in the service industry on some level from wait-staff to bartenders, security, dj's or whatever! Or for people who can't get enough great music and fucking party time. Come out and show us your support! It will be the first great party of the new year!

07/18/06 Patricia here. The webmaster has been bugging my ass for months to write something for the diary. We have been doing one off shows with some fill in members while looking for permanent "family/band members". Well Johnny (our first drummer & the best rock and roll drummer in the world) is back. As many of you know Johnny had some other projects happening and he was away doing those. Now he is back and we just finished two huge festival shows around Toronto and our next show is Saturday, July 22 at 11:30pm at Lee's Palace in Toronto. (see the news page for details). Also Lorne has left the band for a bit to pursue his dream to travel across Canada on motorcycle with his wife Cindy. More news on Lorne as time goes on! We have a fantastic replacement in Ahmed aka "the kid" he has filled those big bass-playing shoes of Lorne' with a greatness of his own. We welcome him and he rocks and laughs and drinks with the best of us!

A new start for us all we are moving ahead with the preproduction of the full album, and have recorded two acoustic songs which are nearing completion and may be available as a download on our myspace and band sites: www.crackpuppy.net or www.crackpuppy.com. We are taking August off to work on the record then we hit the road and start the best thing about being in a band: doing fucking shows. Having you folks out there sharing our music is the best reward of any of it. Again thanks for coming to the shows, buying our cd, and t-shirts, and visiting our many Internet sites. Thanks to you all for the kind words and shared emotion over the death of my mom, it meant a lot to me and my family. Take care, come on out and lets fucking go nuts on the 22nd at Lees Palace
Patricia

10/21/05 No entries since august i guess. the show with nebula at the Horseshoe was fanfuckingtastic, thanks to you all. The gallery has some great shots from the show. Been busy with the details of the cd (you can buy it in the disunited states in march, canada in a week or two, or you can buy it at amazon .com right now)..Been busy with the directors of the video, which was going to be shot at the end of october but it got to fucking cold too soon to shoot outside in the wilds of canada so new plan. Will let you know. Been a bit of a time for me, mom died a couple months ago so that was fucking horrible, still is. Next time we are all at a show lets toast her she was an amazing woman.
So we have a show at Caio Edie in Toronto (no cover eh!) on the thursday nov.10th we go on at 11:45. Its the first time a band has played there so i would love to show them what all of us can do to their beer and liquor supplies. A few more shows coming up, some talk of a tour behind the cd all that in the future. That is it for me. Go hug your mom, if she isn't around have a cocktail and toast her.
patricia

08/24/05 drew here... no diary entries since april. i blame patricia. actually we have been crazy busy w/this whirlwind that is crackpuppy. we've gigged at least once a month (check out the photos in the gallery - helene has captured us at our best at venues from the horseshoe to folsom fair north), recorded the cd (ep?) Vintage Porn and have just generally been through a lot (i'll leave that to the gossip rags). The cd release party was a blast - except for the cds not arriving in time (you can order them at www.spinerazor.com, find them in the stores (ask your friendly local merchant!) or we'll have them at all the upcoming gigs. we're real excited to be opening for nebula and honky (featuring j.d.pinkus from the butthole surfers!) at the horseshoe & it's going to be one hell of a rockin' show.

04/18/05 patricia here

patricia

03/11/05 Wow. Thanks for such a warm welcome at last night's gig. It was such a thrill to see everyone, and meet so many new people, and to beat the snot out of my drums and shed my blood all over them. I think I had a perma grin from all the noise off stage, it was electrifying to hear the ruckus you guys made, danka danka danka danka danka danka danka danka danka danka danka danka danka danka... I wanted to keep playing the set all over again, but oh well, you'll have to come out to the next show to hear your favourites again, and more songs, and louder...Til later, Jaypuppy

02/09/05 fuckin' hell. our gig at lee's palace has been rescheduled to thurs. mar. 10. it's still at midnight & it's still an important gig & by then we'll really be ready to party & rock! see you then... drewpuppy

01/26/05 happy new year everybody. we had a great year on the whole....lots of gigs, new fans and friends, a few kicks at our door by interested folks.......still some changes happened..... our drummer johnny leroy moved on to pursue his other musical interests which was hard for us....he was there from the beginning and the loss of johnny as a band personality and a drummer made it hard to replace him, we will always love johnny and support the stuff that he loves to do..... thanks to donn dixon for filling in for a show and working so hard to make the gig at lee's palace one of our best. so much so that we're back there on feb. 24 (check out the news page for details as they get firmed up). after searching for the right person to sit behind those sacred drums we have found a new drummer full of enthusiasm and chops: his name is jay shrubsall. welcome jay...get ready for the ride you motherfucker we haven't even started yet! so we are starting on that road again of shows once a month ......we are going to get a video out....for our first song ..then do a cd....seems like the way to go for us...so stand by i think we might need some of you fuckers in it...watch the news page for info over the next few months....ok that's it see you at the bar real soon.......patricia

12/15/04 drewpuppy here. has been a long time since we've gotten it together to write a proper diary entry. the big lee's palace show was over two weeks ago. what a rockin' evening. the place was packed & we've never had a better response. lots of dancing, lewd shouting & even a choral effect on "fuck you & your '80s haircut." johnny was m.i.a. &, thankfully, my old bud donn dixon ably stepped in. he's not only a great drummer & friend but made a perfect puppy. thanks to everyone for making him feel so welcome & big thanks to donn for lending us his talents. the photos from the show will go up in the early part of the new year & expect some '05 shows to be announced soon. patricia was going to write one of her profanity-laced entries but she's been pretty devastated by the loss of dimebag darrell of damageplan. pretty shocking news but worse for patricia as dimebag was one of her idols & someone who's style she has emulated. i actually saw damageplan the week before dimebag was shot when they played t.o. he was the best thing about the band & his loss is deeply mourned by rockers everywhere. as patricia would say "fuckin' hell."

10/06/04 lornepuppy here. So we've been asked back to The Horseshoe on Friday Oct 8th. Not fuckin' bad. The last show at the Shoe was a great success. This one promises to be a blast as well...and we all get to sleep in the following morning. We'll throw in another tune from our growing repertoire just to mix things up a little. If you missed the last show, well, here's your chance to catch our band and find out what the buzz is all about. Oh...admission is a bargain - low enough to have a bunch of drinks and buy the coolest band rag around - the Crackpuppy T-shirt!

09/25/04 patricia here.
Patricia here...we're at the Horseshoe again.............can you fucking believe it...the horseshoe asked us back..for a friday night on the 8th of October...(we go on at 11pm)...i want to say here we in the band are very thankful and appreciative to the horseshoe for asking us back....it is a very big deal to get a friday night with that time slot...so here is the deal: we need to fill the place with all of you.
it is so important for us to do that......on the 8th...if you missed our last show or have friends that you can bring with you to see us again just do it...come to this gig......fuck as i said it is so important......we will fucking give it up for you even harder than last time...remember its not just about us....we are just a little piece of the puzzle..you our friends and fans..are the major piece of the whole thing...so lets meet up on the 8th ..at 11pm and drink ourselves into that state that crackpuppy fans have already gain the reputation for...If you can't make it.... make sure you tell friends to come.... help us fill..the horseshoe..if you haven't found the news page yet click here to go to it and get yourself and a friend or two on the guest list...now that makes things fucking easier doesn't it..see you there.

09/16/04 patricia here.
what can i say about the show at the horseshoe on the 31st of august..it was amazing the band kicked ass. the place was full and we had as much fun as the audience...i think the conversations (and fucking shots) after the show combined with all those emails and phone calls after proves crackpuppy is on its way so thank you for the support...we are playing in the next month....so keep watching.
more fun on the way.

08/01/04 patricia here. so not only are we at it again......its a free show.......so with all the money you saved getting in buy us drinks................for fuck sakes....the horseshoe aug 31 a tues.....no less........ we go on at 11pm sharp..but with these band jam things don't trust it be there at 10:30....it's a bit of a showcase for us so please come and bring fifty of your closest friends...... a party and a real good time for all..........guaranteed or your money back ....oh yeah its free ..... so come out and have fucking fun in the start of the week. better take wed off work.... see you there....!!

7/08/04 drewpuppy here. was a distinct honour to be invited back to cheap queers - the site of our very first gig. ms. cole kept threatening to fire our asses but he may have meant something different & we had a blast . the other acts were hilarious, touching, amusing & (in helene ducharme's case) raunchily rambunctious. we, being fiesty one-year old bratz, were loud. would have been fun to play longer (love it when we hear those screams!) but there'll be a full set the next time out.

07/08/04 patricia here...well we had another real good one(gig) at the vatikan for cheap queers... banged off three songs... and it felt so right... the fucking audience was fantastic... the band was really
hot and we got fucking drunk ... sounds about right... if you missed it you missed a really great time... oh sorry for spitting beer on you fuckers up front with your fucking fingers in your ears....if we're too loud for you go to a folk festival.....that aside, most of the band is on holidays, from L.A. to touring their
motorcycles, until the 15th of august... there is a chance we may gig at the end of august so watch for it... a good one i am told...
and anyone who came to my birthday party thanks it was great having so many people make sure that i had a good time and
celebrated part of the night puking behind the bar in the alley... ahhhhhhhhhhh another successful birthday party.

06/11/04 Lorne here. ,So we're rockin' the Vatikan at this years' Cheap Queers event on June 23rd. Should be a blast. I wasn't with Crackpuppy at this event last year but heard it was a real party. We're so looking forward to this and a line up of other gigs this summer. Enough of just a t-shirt already. New threads/look for this event. See ya there.

06/10/04
drewpuppy here. we're coming up on our first crackpuppy birthday. it's only been one year but we've come a long way & intend to celebrate. first up is a short blast of crackpuppy mayhem at cheap queers on wed. june 23 at the vatikan. we've picked out our faves but feel free to email suggestions... anything can happen at cheap queers (check out the photo to the left) & you never know who'll show up.

slap on your crackpuppy t & head out. this venue was our very first gig so we'll always have a soft spot in our hearts for cheap queers & are thrilled about being asked back. &, as usual, there will be lots of gigs announced soon so you can experience the full crackpuppy experience.

04/12/04
patricia here. First let me thank you for coming out to our show at the Vatikan on April 8. Not only was there a mosh pit and great attendance but the bar was at capacity. You fuckers drank all the beer and more so that is something to be proud of. You rocked and it was great to see all of it. Sorry about the late start there were some unavoidable and unexpected sound things that started us late and plagued us off and on throughout. But it was a slamming show and we were fucking feeling great to be part of your night which turned out to be huge party...So next show lets get it up again and move in and take over like we did at this show. We are taking a bit of time off from gigs to write some new stuff and try and get some time to record so see you motherfuckers in the summer.

3/10/04
The starting gun has been fired again......we are doing another show..on Thursday... April 8th at The Vatikan, 1032 Queen ST. W. (just past ossington) Its a newer venue for bands but i understand robin black and the rockstars played there and they loved it as a venue as well as it being a huge success with the crowd. So we are going to give it a try. It's a great looking very cool place so i hope everyone can make it....not sure right at this moment whether we are going it alone or are having guests we open for or open for us just have a date and wanted to let all of you know ahead of time...it will be a pretty early show depending on the bill we could go on as early as 10:30pm. We are gearing up for a couple more shows in the summer and are going to try out a couple new songs so its going to be a real good fucking time and a hell of an event no matter what..stay tuned to the news page for more details!
patricia

2/25/04
so what the fuck......down time so it seems....we played feb.12 and it seems like it was months ago....we just can't get enough of playing for you we absolutely get so fucking high on it......well we are in the middle of writing two new songs for the next show and we have started to plan an ep of six songs......so that is keeping us focused.......i want to thank all the people who have come up to me over the last month and told me how much you loved the band, shit, that kind of stuff...is what makes it all worth it....you taking the time to give your opinions...so..........next show late march, early april venue to be announced....... hope you can make it out to the next gig.... keep watching here for details or get your name on that fucking mailing list (puppies@crackpuppy.net).

02/23/04
Lornepuppy here. I was asked to fill in for a one-timer at the Horseshoe last September. Performing with drew in another project added to the credit of this invitation, so, naturally I said 'sure'. Well it's been a blast ever since. We've played some impressive venues and have developed an ultra cool following. Crackpuppy is loud, catchy and a shit-load of fun. We have a good thing going and a fantastic support crew - from Howard on lights to Helene who is camera ready at all times.

02/22/04 drewpuppy here. my turn to say something (though patricia is definitely the boss...). i had no idea that a writing project that sounded like it might be fun would turn into such a successful band. the crackpuppy experience has been a whirlwind w/each gig being more fun & better attended than the last. so as long as patricia needs a liza to counter-act/collaborate w/her inner zak i'll be there. johnny is such a powerhouse drummer who never fails to make me laugh & certainly kicks up the energy level. i've worked w/lorne before (in another project of mine: "the amazing sideshow band") & it's always a joy to be on stage or in rehearsal w/him: he's just so innately musical & solid w/a really subtle sardonic sense of humour. being the bimbo singer in crackpuppy is just a blast!
patricia's already thanked the many, many, many people who have helped us out along the way - we never would have got this together w/out their input but i'd like to take a few lines as well: howardpuppy makes us look good, cindy makes me sound good (or at least better...), helene & cindy are the anti-yokos (actually i always thought yoko was more talented than that guy she married) of the crackpuppy universe & shot a lot of the photos in our gallery, ms. kat*ass*trophy sexes the show up, paul lets us learn from our mistakes &, of course, the enthusiastic, fun crowds that have come out to the shows & make it so much fun for us! we love to hear what you think - say "hi" at the next show or feel free to email: puppies@crackpuppy.net. we're working on some new songs & have some shows coming up to give them a try. & we really get off on seeing people wearing our t-shirts on the street...

02/20/04 hey everyone!
Patricia here again. Just wanted to thank you for coming to the show at lee's palace in toronto on Feb.12....It was a fucking amazing show it felt like we were all on it..you guys and us, we had a ball and got to really enjoy the whole night and to make things better we almost sold out of the t-shirts which i have reordered, so step right up get them while you can.....I even sold the one that i had put aside for me. Thanks to Shannon and Gavin for selling the shirts for us and again to Tam (-->) for the "cards"
You can get these t-shirts at one of our next shows in late march or early april....we are just finishing up the details and will let you know the when and wheres' soon. Also there were a shit load of pictures taken during the show so watch for them in the gallery soon. Well that's about it....till next time and remember keep away from the status quo............!
patricia

2/9/04
Hey motherfuckers here we go one more show. We need all our friends and the curious to get out there for us.....and fucking scream your lungs out. We haven't had a huge amount of time between the last show at the Phoenix concert hall and this one but even with the parties, vacations, and general day to day shit we managed to write a new song for the show. Its nice and heavy and the drums are "slamming" as they say. It's called sex stoned so lets meet up at lee's palace on thursdy the 12th (we go on around 10:30 or so) and lets show everyone else what a fucking crackpuppy party can be.....

p.s. there is a good chance that our logo will be on some t-shirts at the show so bring your 20 bucks if you're thinking of getting in on it.

And i have to say thanks to tim welch, one of those great all around guitar players you know an MVP of guitar players. He waswith us in the beginning, for our first gig he played bass, and helped me sort out the rough spots on some new rough songs...i was waiting for the photo of tim playing the Phoenix with one of his bands (National Velvet). Of course he also got us on the bill for that gig so how fucking great is that! patricia

1.26.04
hey everybody Patricia here...so welcome to the new crackpuppy website.......we have come a long way since drew and i sat down a couple months before june of last year to write a song or two for fun. We played two songs (thinking that was more than likely it) for cheap queers at the vatikan cafe on queen street...then bam we were asked to open for the black sabbath cover band Pink Sunday at the horseshoe, then we headlined the bovine sex club then the phoenix concert hall with national velvet.... now lee's palace on feb 12. Its because of all of your support and the ever growing word of mouth about us from you people our friends that this band is getting more and more popular. Thank you for all that and we want you to know we will keep giving you good hard rock and roll for as long as we are standing........

here's something: last night i played on one of the Hidden Camera's songs for their show with toronto dance theatre. It was an amazing show and even if you were not a fan of either the camera's or modern dance you were going to get caught up in the show and have a great time musically and visually..and for me it was fun to learn the song for five minutes (it was hard to concentrate on learning though because i was out celebrating johnny's (our drummer) birthday till around 10am that morning..happy birthday johnny) and then play with such a huge commune of people..(although far from getting my parts totally right i plowed through with the help of the other guitar player and a few others around me thanks everybody) if that show ever comes around again go see it. thanks joel for the opportunity. well onwards....... enjoy the site and thanks for being there at all our shows ......
patricia

p.s i want to thank helene for all her organizational skills in getting the emails notices and photos together and all around stuff she does. And i need to thank Paul Jamnicky for being at the shows and filming so we have the digital videos and some live sound on dvd's and mpeg's that is where the downloads are coming from when they get on the site...thanks Paul
and to Howard (<---) for his lighting and general show/touring expertise and shawn mcdonald and course the webmaster...(drew)
